Syndiotactic Polystyrene (SPS) Xarec

Central Laboratory of Idemistu Kosan Co. Succeeded in the development of syndiotactic polystyrene (SPS) in 1985 from styrene monomer using a metallocene catalyst for the first time in the world. Based on this discovery, Idemitsu Petrochemical Co. developed a continuous SPS polymerization process, and then constructed a commercial plant in Chiba, Japan and trade-named Xarec®.
